Lex Veldhuis
Lex Veldhuis is one of the members of Team PokerStars Netherlands. Prior to his professional poker career, Lex used to be a sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing sports. Later on, Lex became interested in strategic computer games, and developed great skills that would later on be necessary for poker. When fellow Starcraft buddy and PokerStars Bertrand Grospellier introduced him to online poker, he got hooked and committed to playing the game.
Lex’s first major tournament highlight was at the European Poker Tour Deauville €4,000 No Limit Hold’em Main Event which was held in February 2006. He was able to finish 20th place and claimed a monetary prize of $10,536. In the following year, Lex played in the World Poker Tour Mandalay Bay Poker Championships which was held in June 2007. He showed another great performance and achieved 20th place. He also received an amount of $13,115. On the same month, Lex had his first experience of the World Series of Poker tournament, which was one of the most famous annual competitions in poker. He played in the $5,000 Pot Limit Hold’em event and won $14,690. In November of that year, Lex played in the 2007 Belgian Poker Championships and improved to an 18th place finish. He brought home $14,690. In the following year, Lex joined the 2008 World Series of Poker $10,000 Heads-Up No Limit Hold’em and finished at 48th place. In the event, he won $14,438. In 2009, Lex returned to the European Poker Tour which was held in April and competed in the San Remo €5,000 No Limit Hold’em. He finished 89th and won an amount of $10,477. On the following month, Lex participated in the 2009 World Series of Poker $40,000 No Limit Hold’em event and made his strongest finish of 7th place. He also earned his largest amount in major tournaments, which is $277,939.
